In my paintings I deal with contingent forms coming into life by the coincidental flow of the paint. To conceive abstract, surreal space I use a coincidental system. My topic is the process of creation which is not directer by the painter, but the material. For the first layer of my works I make use of the repulsive properties of oil and water, letting the medium itself form it's patterns by chance. After the first layer has dried I highlight the material's beauties with meticolous work. The flow of the paint is a dynamic, constantly changing process and it is this evanescent moment which I capture and use to construct a single painting. My working process takes a long time and therefore allows me to immerse in it. While I concentrate I notice repeating patterns and the regularities of the eventually moving material. Repetition can be discovered in the seemingly chaotic spatters of paint on canvas, just as in the intricacy of nature. My working method is rooted in the philosophy of the Taoists, who believe that one should not resist against the forces which keep the world in constant movement, but adjust one's actions accordingly amd thereby live in harmony with it, completely giving oneself over to the flow of Tao. My paintings are the consequence of my decision of placing the material first. It is me who adapts to it and not the other way around as it is traditional. By handing over the control my pictures are freed from the fetters of only displaying my own ideas. The paintings' titles refer to topics and spaces we do not have exact concepts of, such as the origin of the earth or the world between life and death. These are settings which even modern technology isn't able to map, we only have ideas and theories to work with. Regarding these topics the artist may enjoy complete freedom and embrace challenges. I chose to depict the undescribable by using systems given by chance which are likewise coincidental.
