About The Artwork

The Ancient ones, the Anasazi inspired this original watercolor.The subject is Cliff Palace, the second-largest cliff dwelling in Mesa Verde National Park, near Durango, Colorado. I hope the viewers will have a better sense of this Native American culture that thrived before the Renaisance.Think of the effort involved in carrying thousands of rocks up the side of a cliff in order to build these magnificent structures and then abandoning them after only a couple of centuries! Fortunately these iconic cliff dwellings remain to this day, inspiring artists and visitors alike a thousand years later. Water was precious to the Anasazi and that's why I chose watercolor as my medium to paint a subject near and dear to my heart for over forty years...
