This bird is unusual. He can use its feathers for more than just flying. He also makes sounds with them. He slaps them together about 107 times a second to create a buzzing sound, which it uses during courtship. The charming manakin has modified feathers on its wings, allowing the bird to perform its “song” using its wings. The ribbed, club-shaped feathers rub against each other like a spoon moving across a washboard, producing a series of buzzing and clicking sounds. The most interesting thing about this bird is that the males make squeaking sounds to attract females with their wings. They flap their wings upward, producing a loud squeak, and vibrating the feathers at an incredibly high speed. Galina captured this moment on canvas. The painting is done with a palette knife using a stroke technique. This gives the painting an abstract reality and a special volumetric effect. The picture is painted with acrylic.

A painting is a melody that plays with the sounds of emotions and beauty in our head and heart. To me, each painting is a piece of life - a life that lives on its own, on its own terms. You start from a blank canvas, and like creating music sound-by-sound, you add each new brushstroke, each new color, creating harmony, beauty, and a new experience for a mind to absorb. From the chaos of emotions and imagination, a new balance is born in each painting. I am Galina Vasiljeva, a full-time artist. Originally I am from Lithuania, now I live and create in sunny Cyprus. I have completed my art education in Klaipeda, Lithuania. Since that day, I haven't stop experimenting, trying out new ideas, and improving, letting my imagination guide me. My paintings are mainly inspired by nature, architecture, and everyday life. To create my paintings I use my technique based on the knowledge of the techniques of old masters and our contemporaries. I participate in competitions and exhibitions. I travel a lot and I try to transfer the beauty I see around the world onto the canvas. My works are made with oil paint and acrylic on canvas, applied with palette knives and brushes. I like to share this life with others, bringing it into their homes. Through my paintings, I want to give happiness, confidence, strength, and the beauty of the world surrounding us. So that everyone can enjoy their lives.
