Did you know that coffee can also be used for a tea leaf reading? There are two main requirements: a white cup (to see the shapes that the leftover sediment make) and a crude, usually Turkish coffee. After drinking the coffee, the person turns the cup upside down onto a saucer. After thinking about their intent, they then swirl the cup three times clockwise or counter-clockwise. The coffee reader then examines the shapes inside the cup. In my prior post I explained the meaning of three shapes. But did you know that letters and numbers can also be read in the coffee reading? Here are the numbers 0-9 and their corresponding meaning: 0 : Things repeating them selves, going in circles 1: Start of something new 2: Choice(s) or indecision between two things 3: Meeting 4: Jealousy, misfortune 5: Success 6: Sex 7: New love 8: Double luck 9: An offer

Adam Norgaard (b. 1991) is an American artist working in Japan for the past 9 years. His works reflect the process of adapting to a culture different from his own. Working with oils as his main medium, he remains playful while also maintaining a finished quality. Adam attempts to bring the viewers into a foreign environment of their own by the atmosphere depicted in his paintings. In his own practice he is working at deviating from references and attempting to work completely from his imagination.
