ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Cojido con presinta (2014) is a large format engraving, artist proof, made in the technique of collagraphy on paper. It is represented the lopsided head of a male figure with Negroid features, in which we only distinguish an eye represented by the snail of the Orisha or deity Eleggúa, typical of the Cuban cult of Santeria. This snail is specifically used in the oracle of Diloggún, a Yoruba divination system through which the deities are expressed. A line made from the impression of a rope goes through the eye and composition.
