About The Artwork

Finding balance, harmony and unity in form and color is my goal when I create my paintings. I start by thinking about the compositions and I elaborate small sketches that I call "skeletons" because it is the backbone of my work. This is an abstract and graphic composition, whose main forms are a succession of different layers of blue pigments that give the work a great luminosity. The background is worked in vaporous tints that contrast with the geometric forms and the writing or black lines. Cotton canvas, stretched on a square wooden frame. The work is worked in mixed media: oil, acrylic, pigments, ink. A matt anti-UV varnish protects the painting. The edges of the painting are painted in black. The hanging on the back of the painting (cord attached to two pegs screwed into the frame) allows an immediate and safe hanging.

Cécile Valle's painting is centered on abstract compositions, a search for balance endangered by freer, more spontaneous rhythms. She is influenced by what she reads, travels and feels. "Giving meaning to the eye and giving it a choice of interpretation. At the bend of symbols, let the mind define. Let gesture flow freely and spontaneously within a composed, reassuring chronology. Step back and take a closer look." C.Valle Creative process: Cécile Valle begins by creating small sketches in notebooks, which she calls "skeletons" because they form the backbone of her work. Once the composition has been selected, she prepares her canvas and sketches the structure of the composition succinctly in charcoal. Then she begins to work on her colors and materials. Cécile uses pigments extensively, as well as acrylics, inks, graphite and oils.
