ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A couple entwined on the ground, heads glued to each other, making faces invisible. Everything is in the tight embrace of this man and this woman, a gesture both gentle and strong, a gesture of consolation, where time stands still. The couple lies on the ground, they have fallen, they cannot go lower. The two characters give each other courage, it is not clear who consoles who, but we can guess that eventually these two creatures will rise again together. This painting is a unique piece made in mixed technique on canvas and combining photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (glaze and raised squares). It is framed with wood painted in black (total dimensions: approximately 85 x 60 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
