About the Artist

Clarissa Patrianova Valaeys

Switzerland

I am an art director turned artist, after a long career in advertising and design.

In my youth, I set aside my dream of becoming an artist to study graphic design in Brazil. Later, I moved to New York City, where I completed my studies at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) and Cooper Union and went on to work as a graphic designer and art director in advertising for over a decade.

In 2011, I relocated to Europe and continued my creative path as a consultant for world-class brands such as Rolex, Havas, Tag Heuer, and Chopard. This career brought me stability and success, yet it never fully aligned with my values or satisfied my deeper creative needs.

It was only during the 2020 lockdown, after a long pause, that I returned to painting. What began as a personal desire to create art for my own walls quickly became something much larger. I realized I had been carrying a quiet longing ever since I left Brazil in 2000, the feeling of home.

My fascination with painting tropical plants is more than an artistic choice; it is a way of bringing back the lush nature that shaped my youth and continues to ground me.

This rediscovery changed everything. I reoriented my work life around this newfound calling: creating nature-inspired art that elevates spaces, reconnects us to beauty, and brings the spirit of home closer.
