Coral city slicker Painting

At times I am unable to control my energy or process emotions. Escaping reality by creating new and magical worlds is my solace. After many years of battling with anxiety and depression I was advised by professionals to keep a diary to try and make sense of my thoughts. However I was never able to express this in words. Instead I began to paint. Although my paintings are somewhat mismated, the ritual always starts the same way. When thoughts become unendurable and the break of sleep no longer possible, the double doors to my studio are opened and mindfully closed behind me, THEN I WORK! I start to make sense of issues using an array of tools including pallet knives, brushes, blow torches, heat guns, scrapers and sanders as though they were my pen, and canvas, glass, mirror, or wood as my diary. In this half conscious state I feel I am walking a fine line between dreams and reality. As my emotions and thoughts pour out of me and become the foundations for this new world with no confines or limits, I begin the painstaking process of adding life to this creation. In terms of influences there is not a being or subject for any of my paintings, it is simply my emotions, how I'm feeling at the time. I have no image of how I want each painting to finish, the process will not end until in my eyes its perfect. It is at this point I can finally sleep. When I wake and view this new creation everything becomes clearer, more manageable and exciting. I hope my paintings can also bring joy to your life.
