Core of my Heart, My Country Painting

This work was entered into the 2017 Pro Hart Landscape Exhibition, and was selected as a finalist piece. The painting must reflect the nature of the Australian Outback near Broken Hill and the love of the country that Pro Hart expressed in his work. As a result this painting was completed on the floor of the studio (for practical reasons as well, being the size) in a very expressive manner allowing the paint to flow freely across the card, and blend to create the brilliant colours that are regularly seen inthis part of Australia. I also wanted viewers to feel and gain an impression of the vastness and solitude of the bush and deserts by creating a work on a large scale, in contrast to my normal method of working in oils on canvasses closer to a metre in width or depth.
