Crimony Painting

Part of the "Desk Art" series. Work created while working. Each piece is made from enamel paint poured over a medium gauge sheet of cold rolled steel. When the enamel has cured it is sanded or left glossy and then placed close to a work station to collect ink line drawings, for a period of time ranging from one day to a month, or until the work is "complete". Once complete it is replaced by another sheet. The markings are random images, words, numbers, etc. placed in non- composition. The sheet is mounted on a 3/4" MDF flange to give it a floating look when mounted on a wall. Easy to hang with for mounting holes in the back. Can be hung four different ways. Surface is very smooth, not framed, edges are unfinished. Work ships in a intense cocoon of cardboard, bubble wrap, plastic wrap and tape. Each work is signed front and back. The work is a recording of my time. Abstract doodles, lists, calculations, legs, painting ideas, found images, cartoons, words, profanities, hot rods, rigs, toys, nostalgia, nudes, juvenile images, obscurities, boats, planes, tanks, tits, geometric forms, buildings, ads, etc. are placed randomly. The end result is both an abstract image from afar and a collection of symbols up close. Individual works can also be grouped together to create larger compositions. The metal sheet gives a precise edge and surface to draw small images and detail on.
