ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Crystal Blue Patina is a peaceful, minimal abstract painting that elicits a sense of infinite space, effervescent energy and a sense of nature. The subtle, understated composition is achieved using fluid paint which flows down and across the canvas creating a delicate veil. The delightful variation in the patterns feels harmonious and inspiring. A warm central light shines through ascending particles turquoise, ultramarine and cobalt blues. The canvas has a slight texture of silica glass and gesso which add a tactile sensuality. There is a poetic mystery that draws one in without knowing why. The gallery wrapped edges are left painted which gives the entire piece a feeling of structure. It can be hung either vertically or horizontally and is ready to hang.

Perhaps my appreciation for abstraction comes from living in Canada surrounded by mountains, lakes, sky and forests. Nature continually presents me with soothing colours, exciting designs, delightful patterns, intriguing patinas and infinite space. Nature presents light, dark, shadows and movement which evoke emotions of mystery, wonder and love. My goal as a painter is to use nature’s abstract elements like colour and space to capture a particular feeling, a feeling of unity, passion or peacefulness. I strive to create painterly abstractions that mysteriously resonate with my deeper self and hopefully with the soul of the viewer. I believe art is a way to communicate one soul to another.
