Acrylic and glitter on the stars. This is the first I painted when I moved to Mexico. It is a self portrait based on a previous drawing I made in Argentina. About the Artist

Julia Elena Zavalia

Mexico

Argentine artist, essentially self-taught. Since her beginnings in 2001, her work has been based on drawing and painting. Specialized in portraiture and illustration, in recent years she has approached symbolism and abstraction, influenced by her studies on the Tzolkin (Mayan Sacred Calendar), Tarot and Reiki. Her work interprets themes such as the unconscious, the chakras, the nahuales (according to the Mayan K’iche‘ tradition), the feminine and masculine forces of nature, the dualities and the impulses and emotions that face logic and reason.
Her images result of self-observation and the attempt to decipher the other.
