This piece in my series using the metaphor of clay and pottery, examines culture and how we are shaped by it. "Cultural Ocean" sees the beauty and stability in culture like the ocean but yet the undertow of misunderstanding and conflict can pull everything in it's current. Clay...shaped, molded, glazed, fired, complete. I believe in the ability of art to transform your environment into a place of inspiration. I believe that art can evoke feelings and is essential for our individuality. I believe in the investmant of art. Believe with me! This painting is made with acrylic and plaster on braced wood panel and is varnished for durability and saturation of colour with edges painted in a deep blue black. It arrives ready to hang with no further framing required. Meaningful, tactile paintings worthy of admiration and collection.

As an independant artist, I invest myself in creating pieces that touch the soul; to have an individual experience in humanity, emotion and to spark the imagination. What do I want my art to say? We are all connected through life and experiences. This inspires me to work and create. I want people to see our connection. I am a studio painter with a process that leads to multi-layered abstracts. Abstract Expressionism is my genre of choice but I lean toward an aesthetic of minimalism. I want strong detail, harmonious composition and a serene outcome. As a Canadian painter who grew up in Windsor, Ontario and now lives in the Algoma Region of Northern Ontario, I received influences from the strong automotive industry combined with the beauty of the Algoma landscape where many of the Group of Seven painted. Oh, and by the way, you pronounce Jackie Janisse just like Henri Matisse.
