Ships in a Crate
One of a series, inspired by research into the archaeological record of human identity and modern computer migration models. Wax is a metaphor for the mercurial property of our histories, as they are re evaluated and re told over time. Wax holds the constant potential for change and reworking, it can be manipulated to assume human like, sensual skin qualities and highly textured surfaces that capture the working process. One piece constructed from 2 board panels. Background layers of blue, orange and green tones. A raised smaller panel sits within the wax colour field. The oblong panel projects forward a wax coated ink drawing on Chinese rice paper. The ink drawing represents the anomaly of a computer migration model for ancient peoples, generated with the assumption that ancient peoples reasoning and decision making mirrors our own.
