All that enters the water is known, forever etched into its memory, held in its quiet, endless gaze and folded into the hush of the deep. But what is that is being witnessed? A person? Their actions? Maybe it’s everything we are and everything we do...the presence we leave behind without even knowi...

Róża Brożek is an artist whose multidisciplinary practice moves fluidly between animation, illustration, and painting, unified by a meditative attentiveness to light, transience, and the quiet phenomena of the natural world. Brożek studied at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with honors, and has since developed a body of work that blurs the threshold between narrative and atmosphere. Brożek’s animations were exhibited at international festivals and at institutions in Europe as well as within United Kingdom such as Sotheby’s Colonnade Galleries and the Saatchi Gallery’s SalonQP. Her animations were intimate studies in movement, where drawn line and digital motion converge to explore memory, transformation, and impermanence. Rooted in a deep engagement with nature, her visual language draws from the textures of foliage, the fluid choreography of ocean life, and the celestial transitions. Sea life, sky and the tranquillity of a forest are recurring motifs...each rendered not as static subjects, but as living presences within a breathing world. Central to her practice is an almost devotional exploration of light. Her painted works, primarily in watercolour, are built through washes of pigment and fine metallic inks, creating layered, shimmering surfaces that reference komorebi, the Japanese concept of sunlight filtering through trees. In these compositions, light is neither background nor effect but an active participant, a co-author of mood and meaning. Each work becomes a meditative site where presence dissolves into reflection, and form is completed by radiant light. Alongside her studio practice, Brożek is the author of several internationally published comic books, with readerships in Japan, United Kingdom, the United States, and beyond. These narrative works echo her broader concerns with interiority and the permeability between worlds. Poetic, precise, and sensorially rich, Brożek’s work invites the viewer to reflect on moments where the natural and the numinous meet, where light becomes a language all its own, marking her out as a distinctive voice in contemporary visual storytelling.
