This work became the result of my conclusion that some transnational corporations are not only empires with their own territory (‘bp sites’), their population (‘bp people’), their own quasi-language (‘bp language’), their own subculture (‘bp culture’), but also sometimes have a striking similarity with the political empires of the past, in particular with the Soviet Union – one of the largest ideological empires in history. I allowed myself to make such conclusion based on long observations of events and behavior patterns in one of such transnational corporations – bp – where I carried out my research in conditions of complete underground for the unbiased and unrestricted studying political/social/environmental aspects of its activity that were the subject of my interests at intersection of art & semiotics. That was an unprecedented art project that ended in 2023 - ‘Semiosis of Meta-Abstract Symbols / Phenomenology of Freedom’ https://niyazmamedov.com/category/underground/ - and resulted in a number of innovations related both to the formal aspects of art / theory of art and semiotics. My observations (described ‘in hot pursuit’) and conclusions that ultimately inspired me to create this work can be found in the following links - www.niyazmamedov.com/the-underground/#12-10-2015 & www.niyazmamedov.com/the-underground/#30-04-2020 - which are part of my theoretical work ‘The Script’ divided in two sections: 'The Underground' (related to the closed community of the transnational oil corporation - https://niyazmamedov.com/the-underground/ ) and ‘Art & Signs’ (related to my reflections regarding art and semiotics - https://niyazmamedov.com/art-signs/ ).
