ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Daffodils mark the beginning of spring and evoke happy thoughts of warm weather and outdoor fun, so I relish painting them and having them to look at. I enjoy experimenting with colour and contrast in my paintings, and I love how the yellow is offset by the pinks and mauve. I tend to start with a flower reference for inspiration and then express myself with mark-making of organic shapes and patterns to abstract the image and make it more decorative. I wanted to create a dynamic painting, which was full of movement and colour to celebrate this fabulous spring bloom coming to life. This painting will look great in a room looking for a yellow accent and a burst of energy. All of my canvas paintings are finished with a protective coat of satin varnish. The varnish protect the painting and ensures longevity of the colours.

I love colour, contrast and bold patterns. I love creating something out of nothing. I love the escapism and freedom that creating art provides, and I love being able to do something I'm passionate about and motivated by every day. I create vibrant acrylic paintings inspired by the colours, shapes and patterns found in nature. I particularly love taking one of two oversized flowers and abstracting them with bright colours and expressive marks. I like having a reference for my pieces, but I also like to develop it into something different and decorative which I think will look striking and interesting on the wall. Now based in London, UK, I was born in Manchester, UK. I'm a self taught artist, who has always practiced art in various forms. I'm represented by various UK galleries, and I participate in exhibitions in the UK throughout the year. I am also a selected member of ArtCan Organisation.
