About The Artwork

Technical information: Material/medium: Hardboard 3,2mm. Master Class Oil Paints, St-Petersburg, natural high-quality pigments. Tolls: brush The main image of the painting was taken using a photo scanner Epson v370 with 600dpi density Story. That summer I took groups of climbers to Elbrus along the South Slope. Was a guide to the top. I painted quite a few pictures between ascents. This is one of them The Baksan River originates from glaciers on the southern slope of Elbrus and forms a huge long gorge, about a hundred kilometers long. Above it's a stormy stream with stones and sand, in the morning it becomes more transparent, because during the night the glaciers freeze, stop melting, and the river calms down. Then by the middle of the day it is again filled with water and rock. It happens that in the morning the channel has one form, and in the evening it is completely different, because during the day powerful streams have moved some stones and trees, formed new islands, and the old ones were washed away. Forever. I woke up early in the morning, grabbed my backpack of paints and a primed hardboard, and headed through the pine forest to the shore to paint the sunrise. When the sun rises, it floods the entire valley with its light, like a river floods its channel with water. It was a wonderful morning. Cobwebs covered with dew droplets glittered on small spruce trees; spruce needles also glittered with droplets. Everything sparkled and shone. It smelled fresh and warm. I was born in Belarus, in Minsk. Then I learned to walk. A little later I learned to dive to the depth with one breath. Then I got into the mountains and It became part of my home, as well as the depths of the seas and oceans. I started taking people to the mountains as a guide. I like to share with them the most that I have. Sometimes I teach someone to dive and together we enjoy the depth and beauty of the ocean. Then I learned to fly a paraglider, and the sky also became my home and necessity. Element. Wildlife. People. With whom we manage to share really big steps and dreams. Roads. Countries. Wild landscapes and adventures. I never thought what and how to draw or paint, and whether it is worth it. Since childhood. My art is the result of spontaneous living. This is not an end in itself. This is an irresistible consequence. I just draw and paint how I feel and need it. I don't want to be guided by styles and trends, become hostage to this or that technique or niche. I don’t want to look back at tradition, fashion and praise. I want to always remain honest with myself, people and Nature, the nature of everything. If, having felt and discovered something that shocked and delighted you, you can "keep silent", then don't start painting. But I can't... I use different tools and types of paint and materials. Depends on time, location and availability. I can arrive with a full oil painting backpack and climb high in the mountains or in the sands, or sit in the middle of a stormy sea trying to translate the rumble into color. But in jail, it might just be a pen and pencil. No matter. Oil, watercolor, acrylic, various graphic tools. I think that the main thing is not this, but what has become too much to stay inside you, and what you want to share with other people. And is it there. I consider it magic when it is possible to make the world common like this, at least in the space of the picture. But still, my Queen has always been and is - oil paints. When we once again rise to the top of a large mountain, and I am leading the group, there, behind the clouds, on the summit plateau, I let them go forward, I like to see how they reach that cherished point to which we worked so long and hard. And I think this is a great Victory when in them, in people, then there is something else, besides just a photo from the top. Up there, nothing remains of them, whatever they are. People. All unnecessary - flew away along the way.
