Dawns Early Mist on Sparrows Plenty Painting

Early one morning I arose to see the Cornish hills outside my window thick in fog. As the sun burned through the fog, a mist seemed to rise from the hill revealing the vibrate green found on Cadsonbury Fort. Undeterred by the weather a fledgling sparrow found sanctuary on a Valeriana Officinalis, where it found an abundance of food. Soon it was followed by its mother who landed on an opposite stem, her beak packed full of Valeriana seed. I watched in amazement as the two struggled to stretched towards each other, never quite reaching with their weight bending and shaking the plant, sending seed into the mist. Finally, the fledgling took one last leap of faith and spread out it wings, reaching it's mother and her parcel of food. I created this piece using a number of technique including fabric painting, embroidery, quilting, applique and sheer work. All my work is framed, signed and mounted where possible. Due to the three dimensional nature of my work, most are displayed in box frames. This allow the piece to be viewed at different angles making the most of the detailing and gives a professional finish. Each frame is custom made by framing professionals in the UK, giving the best possible finish for the individual piece of artwork. Pieces are framed with a 2mm Crystal Clear ' XT ' Plexiglass, which is the modern, clean & safe acrylic alternative to traditional glass glazing. It is crystal clear, shatterproof and conforms to the latest BSI safety standards. Each piece of framed artwork comes with a hanging kit. This piece is framed in a white frame though due to the size of the piece it was to large to be mounted.
