A portrait of Jackson Pollock. I became obsessed with the idea of remnants. The impact we have on other people. Remnants of Presence, marks left behind. I began painting Artists Who Have Inspired Me with a Focus on Capturing Their Energy or "essence", Representing my own Version of Them. The Idea of painting an Artist who has Inspired Me, Using the influence I Have taking from them Really Intrigued Me. Pollock has a Strong Stance and Attitude. Whilst Also Being the Pioneer of Abstract Expressionism, This Influenced How I Painted the Figure, Juxtaposing Expressive Marks (similar to action painting). whilst Also Maintaining a Level of Control Within The Face and Hand as Vague Yet Dominant Suggestions. I Chose to Work on Metal as I Became Interested in the Idea of Instability, everything is in constant Flux. The steel is a Beautifully Raw, Industrial Material that Oxidises and Changes throughout Time. The Paint Will Slide, Peel, Flake and the metal Will Rust. It Is Uncontrollable and Forever Changing...
