About The Artwork

This work was originally exhibited in the 47th Annual Exhibition for Michigan Artists at the Detroit Institute of Arts but painted in 1970. I titled "Desert Storm" as an abstract expressionist work because it reminded me of violence in the desert.

Stuart is a post-modernist painter who focuses on various forms of abstract design. His current works explore the hard edge movement, featuring bold colors and geometric forms. Most recently, his series entitled “Six Rainbows” was entered into this years annual ArtPrize, an exhibition held annually in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Stuart is a Michigan Native, born in Flint and a Graduate of Michigan State University, Class of 1951. He has authored several books, including the children’s illustrated book “King of the Ball”. His books are available on Amazon. Currently living in East Lansing, Stuart continues to explore different art styles and has expand his creative edge to the internet with the sale of digital prints.
