About The Artwork

I wanted to honor the women of my other culture with a strong female figure, there aren't too many. Dihya Al-Kahina is one of the only women known who transcended the Berber culture, and I surrounded her with Amazigh symbols of strength and protection like the birds, eyes, lotus, leafs, the moon and the sun. The profiles are of three anonymous Berber women, symbolizing the many women of Kabylia, my ancestors. The word one can read on the right side is Dahya in Tamazight language.
