This work comes from a recent series inspired by digital mathematical diagrams of equations. I am intrigued how one can translate the digital back to analog and how those forms, which I often change quite a lot from the original, can have new associations and new meanings. The viewer wouldn't necessarily link them to their origin.

I am Maria Evridiki, a visual artist from Greece, living and studying in Berlin. I get my inspiration from all different kinds of art and I have tried many different mediums . For some time now I have focused on painting. I love creating large format paintings. The protagonist of my latest works in the human (feminine) figure, in weird poses, missing limps, faceless, universal, inspired by yoga, shibari, bondage and any other kind of body work that relates to unlikely poses. I position my figures either in complex spatial situations or on monochromous backgrounds. Large , relatively monochromous surfaces are of great importance to me. I think of my work as a combination of abstraction and figuration. There are some surrealist elements in my work and I like to think of some of my paintings as painterly collages. The materials I use and combine are oil, for its vibrance and sensuality and acrylic, for its speed and spontaneity.
