Painting: Acrylic, Ink, Oil, cold wax on Other.
Divergence. Where the ocean meets art. I have taken an old board, cleaned and restored it, sanded, primed it... and then, as with a new canvas, began to paint. The stripe down the middle is a nod to the stripes that classically define a long board. So, that became part of the painting. I had to wait until the end of the painting to expose this crisp stripe nestled in between the natural and wild lines and shapes of this graffiti work. The stripe has a watery effect to it, even though it is a bright fresh pink.
The board is finished with a cold wax, which gives it a soft satin glow, without being shiny. The wax is also a nod to the surf culture, and as well, nicely protects the art.
It is easily hung with a french cleat, that is installed near the top 1/3 of the board. The cleat runs across the full width of the board.
