About the Artist

Conor Collins

United Kingdom

Conor Collins is a Manchester-based contemporary artist whose work combines unconventional materials, text and imagery to explore social, political and cultural issues. His practice often transforms materials loaded with meaning including HIV-positive blood, diamond dust, currency and written words into portraits and figurative works that question ideas of beauty, identity, power and political rhetoric.

Collins has exhibited internationally and in major UK cultural institutions, including, HOME Manchester, The House of Commons and BOZAR, Brussels as the winner of the START Art Prize. His work has been featured in publications including TIME Magazine and shortlisted for the Celeste Art Prize. His named collectors include Stephen Fry, Ian McKellen and Giorgio Armani.

His current solo exhibition, 'To See and Be Seen', is being presented at HOME Manchester until October 2026, responding to the archive of Queer Up North and exploring the relationship between art, queer history, visibility and social change.

Collins' practice is driven by a belief that art can operate beyond aesthetics: as a form of communication, provocation and social commentary. He aims to create work that is visually immediate but conceptually difficult to ignore, using the language of contemporary art to amplify voices and ideas that can influence social change.
