About The Artwork
The world is aflame, and we continue to watch hoping someone/something will wave a wand and make it all go away. Yet hope is all around us, in every leaf, every root that lodges itself in the ground, every droplet of water, every ray of sunshine. I juxtapose a regal earth with its desperate earthlings, eerily similar in composition, and yet completely alienated by their goals. Earth wants to sustain itself while its earthlings want to pursue their desires to their absolute limit: their death and the destruction of the only place known to mankind where breathing is possible. As the earthlings cry in silence while doing their shopping, pollutants and solutions surround them - it's within their reach to do something, but their eyes are closed.

I am an artist, visual designer, and writer from Senegal and currently travelling between Ghana, Senegal, Mauritius, and the Bay Area. Being an artist is my revolution: it allows me to claim space for my suffering in the universe. I paint to explore how anxiety, depression, and trauma affect identity and shape our relationship to freedom. I am fascinated by the 'cry for help' and all the ways in which it manifests on the human body when it is not externalised. I use art to resist the idea that numbing, whether through silence or through consumerism, is an antidote to sadness, pain, and suffering.
