Dooroy's Fairy Tree Painting

When I moved to Dooroy in County Galway, I noticed that the fairy tree just over the wall in the bottom field was heavy with ivy. I asked our neighbour if I could go into onto his land to take the ivy off. So I set about doing that as carefully as I could manage till the job was done. Then one day after the rain i saw that the tree was glistening - every inch of it - sparkling - it was so beautiful I did not want to look away. It was as if the sun and the tree were connected by some beautiful power and they became one. Of course I did look away and when I looked back it was as normal again, and I never saw it sparkle again, but I felt as though I had seen where the mythology had come from, and felt somewhere that I had been thanked. The woman represents the sparkle, her hands and face towards the sun to show the connection, the bond, the oneness, the love that I saw that day.
