Camouflage In nature, some animals camouflage to their environment to hide and protect themselves by causing optical illusions. From my personal experiences, getting away was like camouflage. Travelling to somewhere far and unknown was running away from the reality that was repetitive, busy and tiring. The unfamiliar environment where so distant from home, ironically gave me comfort, peace and relief. I have been working on 'After-image' series from 2015. The previous series convey the visual moments of unconscious feelings stored in my memory, reflecting like a flash and the visual images that I have felt are transferred on to the canvas. I have been seeking for a perfect balance of dream and reality, emotion and rationality and unconsciousness and consciousness. Abstract painting fills the background of artwork expressing dream, emotion and unconsciousness while a figure or portrait delivers the notion of reality, rationality and consciousness. Although, I found an irony using brushes, knife and hands to reflect my unconscious feelings because the action of the physical contacts with my hand and canvas is very conscious and deliberate. Therefore, I was inspired by Jackson Pollock's drip painting technique, influenced by his philosophy that his work is 'not deliberate but not random'. I expended drip painting technique with bubbles and forms to express the beach, water and sea. The colors and patterns were created by dripping paints mixed with bubbles and forms. The artworks required a full-day to dry, completely. It was such a joy monitoring the process that the bubbles created when it pops, forms, deforms, dissolves, mixed with other colors and dries. In my paintings, abstract contains the feelings and memories of certain environments. Figures and portraits express my rational mind and the female figures were chosen because it was easier for me to reflect myself.

South Korea
South Korea- born Australian artist, currently based in Seoul. "The early immigration period was difficult to communicate in the language, but the sense of isolation has driven me into creating art as another way of communication. Since then, art never left me." Since 2015, Eury moved back to Korea and started her art series that involves Korean poetic approach in fine art. The latest series contains flows and rhythms of Eastern art in the absorption of Western form, texture and colour. The artworks convey the world that may not be visible but the dreamlike imagery. The artist's recent works display a poetic space formed by fairytale-like natural environment and symbols with Korean traditional art approach, creating a hidden, mystic and dreamy atmosphere. In collaboration with her personal feelings, she recorded certain visual scenes that remembered from her dreams and imagination.
