About The Artwork
This piece is part of a series of paintings expressing my current obsession with strong color schemes.. I chosen to incorporate strong bright color with a set of different techniques in each horizontal section. The name "dreamscapes" comes from the different sections for which I let my mind wander off to find a mood or emotion which I try to express through my medium. I hope every viewer will find this piece a gateway into their own dreamworld and create their own story through each section inside this painting. Three separate layers were painted on top of each other with different levels of opacity to create multiple layers of interwoven color, with the third layer I create the contrasting horizontal "sections" .which I tend to refer to as individual dimensions or dreamscapes. The first two layers are connecting the individual dreamscape sections to create different routes for each viewer during their journey through their daydreams.

I started as an graffiti artists back in 1981 and experimented with different media ever since. As a teenager I have been obsessed with colors and how they interact with our (my) brain to create feelings and link to certain emotions. I tend to try different styles every now and then, always with strong colors and shapes, and offering a different mode to transport the viewer away from reality. When I paint my mind goes on a journey and I hope my art allows the viewer to follow me on these journeys to the different dreamscapes I imagine. My aim is to create colorful pieces of art that can lift any interior out of the average and create striking pieces that stimulate viewers to look beyond the canvas and take a few steps into their own fantasies. I am from Amsterdam, Holland, but have been travelling with my wife through Europe to see how other nationalities live, and have now settled in the Costa Brava in Spain to enjoy the more relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle.
