EXIT Painting

My paintings raise issues of feminine identity and interplay between the sexes. I analyze myself in my work while also invoking psychoanalysis and sociology in order to investigate and depict feminine nature more generally. My oeuvre balances between the meticulous modern mind and archaic origins replete with intimate impulses from the unconscious. Sensual experiences of the body are juxtaposed with frustration and death. Images from consumer culture intermingle with naked flesh. The material ground of my paintings is silk, which becomes a “skin”: a symbol of tactile experience. Over this foundation, in addition to various paints, I apply experimental materials: food, medicines and other organic matter. Our lives are similarly overlaid with products. My paintings can thus be perceived as intimate spaces crossing through the pornographic, consumerist arenas and killing fields of modern life.
