About The Artwork

Here we stand at the waters edge in perfect solitude. When you spend day after day at a place you begin to feel an affinity with it. The place draws you in like a sponge pulls in water, you are absorbed into it, its moods, its cycle of day & night. I spent these times here over 20 years ago but the memories of it linger still. This is a follow on work to the previously sold Long Island works. Painted on very high quality 9oz cotton canvas stretched over handmade gallery style deep edged wood frame. Painted using a mix of traditional oil paint & acrylic spray. Painting will come varnished and ready to hang with brass rings and cord supplied and will come with certificate of authenticity and signed of course. Please note edges of the work will be white. I have included some framed in room example to give you an idea of what work would look like framed if so desired. Work can nonetheless be hung unframed immediately. Remember - Look ye also whilst life lasts .....

Simon Jones was born in Grimsby, England. Once the second largest fishing port of its kind in the world, Grimsby sits directly on the North East coast fringed by what is known as 'The Lincolnshire Wolds'. He studied Fine Art on a Foundation Course at Grimsby Art College back in the late 70's and went on to study at Degree Level at Kingston Polytechnic London and later at Hull University gaining a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art. He has lived and worked in Lincolnshire most of his life and feels a close connection with its unique landscape. "My passion is Oil Painting primarily my local Landscape (Lincolnshire Wolds). I have lived all my life in and around this landscape and use it as an inexhaustible and inspiring material for my painting. I have a deep love of Fine Art stretching back over 40 years now. Whenever I get the chance I take the opportunity to visit Art Exhibitions and Galleries both home and abroad. I endeavour to imbue my landscapes with mood and melancholy saturating the canvas with varying layers of paint in order to convey tone and texture in what I see. Remember: Look now while life lasts ...
