About The Artwork

EBONY AND IVORY At the simplest level, the song is about the ebony (black) and ivory (white) keys on a piano, but also deals with integration and racial harmony on a deeper, human level. The title was inspired by McCartney hearing Spike Milligan say "black notes, white notes, and you need to play the two to make harmony, folks!".[4] The figure of speech is much older. It was popularised by James Aggrey in the 1920s, inspiring the title of the pan-African journal The Keys, but was in use from at least the 1840s.[5] Lyrics Ebony and ivory Live together in perfect harmony Side by side on my piano keyboard Oh Lord, why don't we? We all know That people are the same wherever you go There is good and bad in everyone When we learn to live, we learn to give each other What we need to survive Together alive Ebony and ivory Live together in perfect harmony Side by side on my piano keyboard Oh Lord, why don't we? We all know That people are the same wherever you go There is good and bad, mmm, in everyone We learn to live when we learn to give each other What we need to survive Together alive Ebony and ivory Live together in perfect harmony Side by side on my piano keyboard Oh Lord, why don't we?
