About The Artwork
This painting is based on a photo of the wooden waterfront in Wellington New Zealand. The abstract forms are representative of the sea life living and breeding on the wooden structures-halfway between ocean and ground. I was inspired by Kandinsky's Compositions as well as Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings 'From the Lake No.1' (1924) and Lake George (1922)

Catherine Lalevée studied Textiles at Cambridge Regional College before attending the Cambridge School of Art in 2010. She graduated with a 2:1 in Fine Art in 2013. Her practice moved through textiles, photography, collage and film before experimenting with canvas in 2013.
