Art… the transformation between the traumatic episode and the artist's healing through his process of the work. Art is the language that is expressed through color, shape, rhythm and sounds that never need to be translated. Art speaks to the heart and spirit. I am a Venezuelan designer. I studied architecture in South America, where through a design program I was trained to have the ability to design anything from a ring to a city. My passion is creating concepts in design and adapting them to functionality and reinterpreting the message wanting to be transmitted. I always wanted to do big works but they didn't fit in my car. I found myself having to split them into several canvases. From there was born the love for works in little pieces. It partly reflects my own story. In 2017 I painted a very small painting and wrote “family.” The work was full of fire. I didn't understand what I was painting, but 3 years later my family died in a car accident that was engulfed in flames. That morning I woke up after hearing the news, took the painting and went to talk to my therapist; coincidentally, I had an appointment that day. I told him “what does this mean? How could I have drawn this 3 years ago?” He replied, “I don't know, but there is a new fire in you and your family. A fire that burns for what is new, for the genuine.” That day I began a journey that I never imagined experiencing, but art has been a refuge that life has left me. A refuge where spirituality, healing, and architecture converge to allow me to move forward. What was fragmented began to be integrated through art. I want my works to inspire strength, rebirth, perspective and hope. That we all survive our worst chaos. That we can continue moving forward. That art silence the nightmares. That what you discover when you see a completed work be something yours. Let it be a resolution to a place where none of us can reach. Like air, no one sees it but it seeps in everywhere. That what is created within you go to the unexplored corners to oxygenate and give light. This art is laden with the survival of an individual who decided to stay to talk about his healing through his art and inspire others to heal.
