About The Artwork
I am originally from South Africa where wildlife is part of the culture. It was no big deal there to see one of the Big Five without too much trouble. Here in Israel, and in many other parts of the world, people regard wildlife quite differently and I find myself feeling very grateful for the way I grew up there. I suppose there's some nostalgia in this painting, and a feeling of comfortable familiarity with these beautiful animals. I'd like viewers to appreciate this too. I love working with watercolour and in this painting it allows me to capture my memories and the feelings that go with them.
