About The Artwork

A cold and clear blue day at the sea.... I love the beautiful traces and marks that come from this multilayered mixed media watercolor technique... and I love to explore the magic of the color "blue". 20x50 cm, gouache, silver pigments, acrylics on canvas, sides painted with traces of painting process. Varnished for Protection. Signed on the back and Certificate of Authenticity. Comes unframed, ready to hang, the frames shown here are just examples what it could look like. The silver pigments can sparkle when hit by light, just as nature does. They can also look white. (c) 2020 Gesa Reuter, all rights reserved.

Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
