Arian Nowbahari is an Italian painter and film director based in Oslo, Norway. Born in Sassari in 1995, he combines a background in electronic engineering with a deeply expressive visual language that bridges art, philosophy, and emotion. Nowbahari’s paintings explore the connection between the outer world and inner experience, using color, movement, and form as emotional instruments. He approaches painting as an introspective act, where the process reveals as much as the final image. His style merges neo-expressionism, abstract, and minimalist influences, evoking both strength and vulnerability. Inspired by artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe and Pablo Picasso, and thinkers like Friedrich Nietzsche and Emil Cioran, Nowbahari explores themes of melancholy, femininity, nature, and existential reflection. His work invites viewers to confront the emotions we often avoid—transforming them into a vivid sense of aliveness. As a filmmaker, he has directed several award-winning films, including Wille zur Macht (Italy, 2022), When the Tea Gets Cold (USA, 2023), and Twelve Minutes (Norway, 2024).
