About The Artwork

This is the third iteration of a colour scheme based on yellow ochre, bright yellow, red, burnt sienna, bright blue and light amethyst purple. The first layer, yellow, was painted thinly to create drips, these runs of paint suggest an imagined landscape with three horizon lines or platforms, ascending, propped up by straight yellow lines on either side. This floating world is occupied by hundreds of spheres, orbs of blue, red, yellow, white and orange, some just about to burst, some oozing their contents. The final compositional element is thin, hard straight lines of various sizes, which enter and exit between the top and bottom of the painting. When viewing this painting from a distance it seems like one would have to wade through the white lines to the world behind them, but when observing it closely, one might feel like they have entered through some of the lines already and merely have more to go through. Dystopian landscapes, Mad Max and Star Maker by Olaf Stapledon.
