About The Artwork

Failing, series Limites, acrylic on canvas, 80 x 150 cm, 2016 The Limites series consists of three paintings each of them focusing from a different perspective on the destructive relationship between humans and nature and with our own kind. We are living in times were humanity believes to have the authority over the planet world with all its life, forgetting about the fact that he himself is just another living being. Limites is my way to show that humanities view toward nature is erroneous and that not knowing how to live with each other’s in peace is a sign of not having our feet on the ground. We expose our immaturity. We exploit nature by building dams, bringing contamination to flawless places and install our arrogance in our neighbour’s house. The important thing is that consciousness is strongly observing what happens and that is the reassured respite to a path that seems already broken. Tolerance and respect make the human encourage to be more and more open in every way, he becomes more universal and a fertile ground for the growth of love and peace.

André Ubilla is a true multifaceted artist. A wide range of interest and skills allow him to choose in his creation processes from different tools, remaining with the most suitable for each project. His influences are as varied as his artistic creations, united under the gaze of existentialism. His inspiration and the most frequent protagonist in his works is the human being facing his own reality, analyzing his existence, his actions, his state of freedom, his emotions and the boundaries of the roads he traveled and of those that still remain to be discovered. In most of his works we can find deep reflections and criticism about the society and the individuals that compose it.
