This large reflective painting was inspired by a countryside scene. A golden meadow shimmers in the sun. In the foreground are dried grasses with seed heads. A path draws the eye to textured crops and a hedgerow in the distance. Gold highlights glint under the soft blue sky. This painting continues...

About the Artist

Elizabeth Westcott

United Kingdom

My journey began with growing up in the countryside - a place that has continued to draw me back again and again. I studied art at Cheltenham College, where I learned not only the practical techniques of painting, but also the importance of looking closely.

After a time working in a high-stress job, I chose to leave that path behind, and return to what I love - painting. This was something that I could do working from home, while I focused on bring up my two sons.

I paint from real life scenes that I have observed, photographed, and then creatively interpreted onto deep canvases, back in my studio. Each work has multiple layers of acrylic paint and inks, to create depth and feeling. I then add silver-leaf or gold-leaf highlights, for delicate, light-catching moments.

Through colour, texture, and shape, my aim is to communicate the wonder of nature as I experience it.
Ultimately, I hope that my paintings bring feelings of love, joy, and peace to everyone who sees them. They are a gentle reminder to pause, breathe, and to feel connected to the natural world.

I have exhibited at five galleries in England and Wales. I have collectors all over the world, including in the United States, Canada and Australia.
