Fashion Portrait II Painting

Fashion Portrait II I is a digital print made from a mix of analogue lavender print technique and digital tweaking of a fashion photography. I like mixing up modern and traditional ways of creating art, switching back and forth between different material and immaterial (digital) spheres. Several processes have been involved in this piece: first the fabrication of a colourful piece of clothing, photographing it on a model, then creating an abrasive print of the photograph via lavender oil, and finally scanning the print to retouch it using digital software. The final result bears more resemblance to an abstract landscape then the original object, the textile. I like the idea of transforming the ordinary into something very abstract, which still bears the original "soul" of the item, yet also adds something new.
