Subjectively, the suspended gem is symbolic of the human spirit - a gem is a natural and rare substance, which when cut and polished by an outside force creates an object of beauty that absorbs and and exudes maximum light. The subject inhabits a colourless and abandoned urban environment with the the poetic suggestion to travel either up or down.
