ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The monochromatic canvas's rich texture employs muslin fabric and ultra-blue acrylic paint to create the figure. Expressionistic yet controlled, the muslin is thrown repeatedly and teased until the piece's ethos is revealed. The unique relief of muslin creates a form, revealing emotional expressions within the contorts of the paint-soaked fabric. Motion plays a crucial role in this work, capturing the fluidity of form and reflecting an interest in individuals dedicated to performance. The work also investigates how gestures can seem to come alive within a still image, although the figurative form may appear restricted in a particular moment. The canvas presents an ambiguous, expressive figure with elements of musicality and dance, exploring the philosophy of the performer.
