About The Artwork

In traditional Chinese painting, "finger painting" is second only to "brush painting". The artist uses his fingers, instead of a brush, to paint. "Finger painting" has a long-standing history. It is believed that finger painting was first practised around 780. When compared with brush painting. finger painting has got an unusual kind of beauty--the beauty of rusticity, clumsiness, childishness and very often simplicity. Professor Wong is one of the few artists who is expert in finger painting in the present time. The artist is bold to face the challenges. Viewers looking at the finger painting will be fascinated by the unusual qualities it has! Just look at the line drawing, the lines are "seemingly broken" and at the same time "seemingly unbroken". It is the link between these ".seemingly broken" and "seemingly unbroken" elements that makes the painting more suggestive and gives the viewer more imagination. Imagination is one of the elements that creates beauty in art.
