This original contemporary creation is based upon ancient myths and legends concerning rebirth experienced by the sun's fire bird. Materials include mixed media paints, iridescent / metallic pigments, paette knife textures and a small natural ruby for the bird's eye, on canvas with wooden stretchers. The metallic pigments provide a unique sense of life giving movement through changing light conditions. There is little justice for the actual artwork through photography. Please see the video slide show for examples of changing light conditions; it is best seen and gently touched. 50 X 70 x 1.5 cm - 19.5 X 27.5 X .5 In. Images in room view are for illustration purposes. My painting style is the use of altered brush strokes and the palette knife with modern materials to capture the effects of light on the subject, resembling some aspects of the impressionist works by Monet, Van Gogh and Pissarro. The best artist grade materials are from trusted sources to assure quality protection and durability. The sides are painted and equipped with all necessary hardware to facilitate immediate hanging, without the need for special framing. The painting is shipped insured with a tracking number, securely insulated and packaged to accommodate conventional shipping conditions. An original signed Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the shipment. Questions and concerns are welcome.

My art career began as an understudy, twenty three years ago in Europe, following advanced studies in design, which led to about seven years of custom freelance work on subjects often requiring substantial adaptation. Consequently I consider myself to be mostly self-taught. With the opening of my first studio, fourteen years ago in the U.S., I continued custom work while expanding experimentation with the availability of modern materials. From the beginning my interests were to create unique artworks involving multiple subjects and styles, satisfying my long anticipated dreams. This experimentation continues today, creating new ideas, techniques, styles and diversity. I have participated in over thirty eight curated solo, group and guild exhibitions in nine countries, on three continents. My work has appeared in international art books and publications. Donations of work and time have been made to charities and public instruction workshops. Liza Wheeler
