The painting is built up in layers, with the background featuring drip marks that resemble the grid of the London Underground map. These marks coalesce into blue landmasses, creating textured sections that invite exploration. The final layer is a fiery dance of poured bright orange marks, each stroke exuding rhythm and vitality, reminiscent of the elemental dance between fire and sea. This vibrant composition showcases the directness of poured marks, embodying the spontaneity and fluidity of dance. The reds streak across the canvas like wild flames, while the blues ebb and flow like the restless sea, resulting in a dynamic interplay of colors. The performance aspect is palpable, as if the artist's movement and energy are captured in each gesture, creating a work that is both profoundly personal and universally resonant.

There have been different strands to my work in recent years. From multi layered oil paintings which are revisited over time, to quick sketches made in the street or on my phone while travelling. The paintings are fast and slow at the same time. They consist of many different layers – some made very quickly with intuition, but built up over a longer considered process. I am interested in the different ways an image can be seen, that moment of recognition from eye to brain, the sensuality of sight. Colour and familiar objects, where it all breaks down. The rules we make for ourselves. The losing control, the surrender.
