Fishing festival by Lee Kyoung Hyun Painting

I express people in endless competition in pursuit of a single standard through various scenes and situations – people flying sky lanterns to make their wishes in the New Year’s Day, children playing in the ball pool, and workers staring at their phones on a commuter train. On the surface, the people in my works consist of simple shapes and vivid colors. They are faceless and headed towards somewhere. However, their different motions and complex patterns draw the viewers into the canvas. My works reflect the lives of people in the scenes and stories that can be found easily around us. Through my works, I would like to ask whether we are living a seemingly fancy life with an inexplicable emptiness.
