About The Artwork

Lately, I have realized how much food exceeded saturation in our lives. Television programs, commercials and internet pages are overflown with videos and pictures of all these eatery, dishes and food to provoke and stimulate our appetite. In contrast, almost every year in Korea millions of animals including cows, roosters, ducks and pigs were died and buried alive due to the virus called hoof-and-mouth disease. We may not have any idea if there were illegal, crucial, dehumanized acts behind the fancy dishes from luxurious five-star restaurants Flowerian means a person who strictly consisting of flowers, only. It is a satire of society and the exceeded saturation on food. The concept developed from my early childhood as I read about a girl who only eats flowers in a Korean fairy tale. I still think that the idea of eating flowers is visually fascinating; even it may not seem normal having Azuela flowers for dinner with folk and knife or eating a bowl of acacia petals with chopsticks. Eating flowers may look weird but it might be more natural act than having the food that we normally in our everyday lives.

South Korea- born Australian artist, currently based in Seoul. "The early immigration period was difficult to communicate in the language, but the sense of isolation has driven me into creating art as another way of communication. Since then, art never left me." Since 2015, Eury moved back to Korea and started her art series that involves Korean poetic approach in fine art. The latest series contains flows and rhythms of Eastern art in the absorption of Western form, texture and colour. The artworks convey the world that may not be visible but the dreamlike imagery. The artist's recent works display a poetic space formed by fairytale-like natural environment and symbols with Korean traditional art approach, creating a hidden, mystic and dreamy atmosphere. In collaboration with her personal feelings, she recorded certain visual scenes that remembered from her dreams and imagination.
