About The Artwork

I am trying to communicate a simple story about returning home from a market and spreading out all of the goods from my bag onto the kitchen table. This painting was selected for Sunday Times Waterccolour 32nd Competition. This painting comes with a white mount and an easy frame with hanging hardwares.

Atsuko Saito was born and raised in Yamagata, Japan. Ever since being a young girl, she was fascinated by the phenomena caused by pigmentation of colour and water. In 2010, she completed her BA in Art and Design at Tohoku University, where she majored in Japanese Painting. She adores many things that are in her house. Through her paintings, she also expresses a slight sense of incongruity with her belongings. Feelings such as embarrassment for holding on to too many items, or bitter memories that are attached to them.
